Getting your farm ready for Federal programs

Here are the three key steps producers should take to get ready to connect to an OGWRP lateral and prepare for accessing federal funding to help assist with engineering and construction costs.

1.  DETERMINE OGWRP ELIGIBILITY

The first step is to determine eligibility for participation in OGWRP and your ability to connect to one of the new laterals.  To help determine eligibility and access, contact Jed Crowther with ECBID.

2.  JOIN YOUR LATERAL WORKING GROUP

The planning, design, and engineering for each of the nine laterals is underway or just beginning. It is important for you - the producer - to be part of this process so that specific needs for connecting to the laterals are technically and operationally feasible and can be factored into your on-farm layout.

3.  DEVELOP A CONSERVATION PLAN TO PREP FOR ACCESSING FEDERAL FUNDING

A Conservation Plan will be required in order to apply for NRCS funds to help pay for on-farm costs associated with hooking up to your lateral.  Staff at CBCD can help you identify the information you will need to take to your local NRCS and FSA offices in order to put together your Conservation Plan.  Contact Harold Crose at CBCD to get started.
