Pumping Plants & Laterals

Preliminary designs from the East Columbia Basin Irrigation District (ECBID) identified an initial 9 pumping plants and laterals at an estimated cost of up to $400 million.

Construction of each lateral goes through several phases: planning, design, engineering, and construction. Landowners can be involved in the planning and design phase in order to ensure that they will be able to hook up to the new irrigation system. We know from experience that organizing or working with a group of neighbors in the early stages of planning and design is critical if you want your specific needs factored into the design.

For most of the laterals, nothing is set in stone. If you have an alternative that is technically and operationally feasible, it would be in your best interest to form a working group among neighbors with similar needs and be part of the process.
